Day 27 – 28: Goodbye to the maritimes

Home  /  Blog  /  Current Page

Friday September 9th – Saturday September 10th

The wind was really gusting on Friday and made for a slow, tough skate
from Grand-Falls to Edmundston.  Mark started the day off with Cam and
got in a good skate, and Matt and Phil hopped out and finished up.  It
was our 5th consecutive day of hard skating since our day off in
Fredericton, and we`ve had Mark back on the road each day as he works
his way back from the injury roster.

Today was a day off in Edmundston and we took advantage by doing
laundry, having a strategy meeting, and producing a video – it will be
out tomorrow on the website announcing some big news so be sure to
check it out!

It’s our last night in the maritimes as we are only 20 km for the
Quebec border, and we took some time to reflect on how far we have
come.  Over the last month we have skated 840 km through Nova Scotia,
PEI, and New Brunswick.  We’ve met some great people, seen a beautiful
part of Canada, and raised some funds and awareness for Courage Canada
and the sport of blind hockey.  We’ll be leaving the maritimes
tomorrow, however we look forward to coming back for the 2011 – 2012
season where we’ll  be running Courage Canada learn to skate programs
throughout the maritimes.

We’ll be changing time zones tomorrow and entering our 4th province of
the campaign.  This week we will also hit the halfway point of the
trip, and we will also be crossing the 1000 kilometer mark!

Thanks to all the maritimers for your support, and for everyone
reading and following along with us on this journey.

Stay tuned…
